General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee and State President Tô Lâm and a high-ranking delegation of Việt Nam attended the United Nations Summit of the Future, the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, and working sessions in New York, the United States, from September 22-25.
The trip continued demonstrating Việt Nam’s contributions to the world’s largest multilateral organisation, as well as the country’s proactive and active engagement in the settlement of regional and international issues.
President Lâm brought forward important messages in strong support of multilateralism, with the UN playing the central role in promoting global peace, cooperation, and development.
During his stay in New York, President Lâm took part in some 40 important functions, spreading the message of a peace-loving Việt Nam, focusing on sustainable development and looking to the future. Among them, the highlight is the leader's speaking and conveying Việt Nam's message to the world at the Future Summit and the UNGA 79's High-Level General Debate.
President Lâm also held bilateral meetings with leaders of a number of countries, including India, Ukraine, and the United States, and received leaders of the United Nations and some of its agencies and investment funds.
He attended and delivered remarks at events towards the 30th anniversary of Việt Nam-US diplomatic relations, and the first anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and had other meetings with the participation of US officials, businesspeople, experts, and academics.
President Lâm also took time to meet Vietnamese intellectuals in the US, representatives of members of the Vietnam Innovation Network, and American experts and scholars interested in Việt Nam.
Many Vietnamese and American businesses also signed cooperation agreements in his presence. VNS
