HÀ NỘI – The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission held its 43rd meeting in Hà Nội on July 15-16 under the chair of its head Trần Cẩm Tú.
During the meeting, the commission discussed disciplinary measures against certain Party organisations and members.
Regarding the wrongdoings by the Party delegation to the People’s Committee of the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, the commission concluded that the delegation violated the principle of democratic centralism and working regulations, and showed a lack of responsibility and loose leadership. These violations led to further breaches of Party’s regulations and state laws regarding the management and use of natural resources and minerals by the provincial People’s Committee and several organisations and individuals. As a result, disciplinary actions were taken against several officials and Party members.
The commission stated that the Standing Committee of the provincial Party Committees in the 2015-2020 and 2020-2025 tenures, the Party delegation to the provincial People’s Committees in the 2016-2021 and 2021-2026 tenures, the party delegation to the provincial People’s Council in the 2016-2021 tenure, and many officials must take responsibility for the violations and shortcomings.
It decided to give warnings to the Party delegation to the provincial People’s Committees in the 2016-2021 and 2021-2026 tenures and some local officials, and reprimands to the Party delegation to the provincial People's Council in the 2016-2021 tenure and several local officials.
The commission proposed that competent authorities consider and impose discipline against the Standing Committee of the provincial Party Committees in the 2015-2020 and 2020-2025 tenures. It also ordered the Standing Committee the provincial Party Committee and the Party delegation to the provincial People’s Committee to promptly correct their violations and shortcomings, and consider and mete out punishment against organisations and individuals with violations under their authority.
The commission also decided to expel Lê Thanh Vân, a standing member of the National Assembly (NA)’s Finance and Budget Committee and a deputy of the 15th NA, from the Party for his degradation in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation", violation of the Party’s regulations and state law on corruption prevention, and abuse of position and power for personal gain that caused serious consequences and tarnish the reputation of the Party organisation and the places where he works.
During the meeting, the commission reviewed a report recommending disciplinary actions against several Party members of the Party Committee in the south central province of Bình Thuận. They urged the competent authority to carefully consider and enforce appropriate disciplinary measures against these Party members due to their decline in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle; and violations of the Party's regulations and state laws related to corruption prevention, as well as the misuse of power and authority for personal gain. These actions have resulted in significant consequences and have tarnished the reputation of the Party organisation.
Regarding violations of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Vĩnh Phúc Province, the commission decided to give warnings and reprimands to several local officials.
As for the handling of some Party members who committed violations in association with projects and bidding packages carried out by the Advanced International Joint Stock Company (AIC) at the Ministry of Finance, the Government’s Office and in such localities as Hà Nội, Nghệ An, Hà Tĩnh, Bến Tre, Hậu Giang and Vĩnh Long, the commission required related Party organisations and Party members to continue correcting the mistakes and violations in a timely manner.
