HÀ NỘI — Acting President Võ Thị Ánh Xuân hosted receptions in Hà Nội on Wednesday for ambassadors of Armenia, New Zealand, Türkiye and Peru who came to present their credentials.
Meeting Ambassador of Armenia Suren Baghdasaryan, Xuân said Việt Nam always appreciates the support from people of the former Soviet Union, including Armenia, to Việt Nam's past struggle for national independence and reunification.
Noting developments in the bilateral diplomatic, economic and investment ties, the Acting President said ample room remains for Việt Nam and Armenia to step up their cooperation, and suggested them optimise existing collaboration mechanisms while reaching new ones to boost their economic, trade and investment links.
The two countries also have potential for cooperation in national defence, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchange, among other fields, she continued.
Xuân asked the ambassador to convey her regards to the President of Armenia, saying she wishes to welcome him in Việt Nam at an appropriate time.
For his part, Baghdasaryan emphasised Armenian people’s special sentiments towards Việt Nam, and shared his view that the two countries boast potential for collaboration in economy, trade, science-technology and education.
At the reception for New Zealand Ambassador Caroline Rachel Beresford, Xuân affirmed the importance Việt Nam attaches to cooperation with New Zealand and highlighted the progress in the bilateral ties in trade, tourism and education.
She suggested the two countries actively implement their existing cooperation mechanisms, and foster collaboration in the areas where both have strengths and demand.
Beresford told the Acting President that the New Zealand Government prioritises enhancing cooperation with Vietnam, saying the two countries have large room to strengthen their collaboration in the time ahead, especially in agriculture, education, climate change response and digital economy.
Receiving Turkish Ambassador Korhan Kemik, Xuân stressed that Türkiye is Việt Nam's second largest export market in West Asia and biggest investor in the Middle East.
The Acting President expressed her wish to soon welcome the President of Türkiye in Việt Nam in order to further promote the bilateral cooperation.
Kemik said Việt Nam is an important partner of Türkiye in Southeast Asia, with the bilateral trade turnover increasing steadily over the years.
Both shared a hope that the two countries will sign new cooperation documents to complete the legal framework for the bilateral collaboration in various spheres.
At the meeting with Ambassador of Peru Patricia Yolanda Raez Porto Carrrero, the Acting President said Việt Nam always values its friendship and cooperation with Peru, and suggested the two countries forge cooperation in politics-diplomacy, economy, trade, investment, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchange.
Speaking highly of Vietnamese businesses’ operation in Peru in telecoms and oil and gas, the ambassador noted her hope for more Vietnamese investments in the country. — VNS
