Defence Minister to meet ASEAN-US defence heads

Minister of National Defence General Ngô Xuân Lịch will attend an informal meeting of ASEAN-US defence ministers in Hawaii from September 29 to October 1 at the invitation of the US Secretary of Defence.

HÀ NỘI — Minister of National Defence General Ngô Xuân Lịch will attend an informal meeting of ASEAN-US defence ministers in Hawaii from September 29 to October 1 at the invitation of the US Secretary of Defence. 
The participation is meant to display Việt Nam’s pro-activeness and responsibility in ASEAN’s activities.
The trip is also aimed at promoting bilateral defence relations through talks and meetings to be held on the sidelines of the meeting, as well as showing support for Laos, the Chair of ASEAN 2016, which coordinates the meeting. — VNS
