HÀ NỘI – Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc inspected the combat readiness of the mobile police force under the Ministry of Public Security in Hà Nội on Tuesday, ahead of the upcoming Tết (Lunar New Year) festival.
PM Phúc lauded the mobile police force for its efforts to build a strong security posture and discover and defeat all sabotage plans by hostile forces, ensuring safety for celebrations in the country.
The PM called on them to demonstrate a strong political will and absolute loyalty to the Party, Fatherland and people in all circumstances while heightening their spirit of revolutionary vigilance.
According to the Government leader, the mobile public force has mobilised the power of the entire political system to fulfill tasks assigned by the Party, State and people. Many of them have even laid down their lives to protect national security and social safety and order.
He asked the force to improve professional expertise and stay closer with the people to protect their interests.
PM Phúc requested the mobile police force ensure safety for activities during Tet (Lunar New Year )festival, events related to the ASEAN Summit 2020 to be held in Việt Nam, Party congresses at all levels and other major events of the country.
He asked the Ministry of Public Security to continue with schemes to build a regular, elite and modern people’s public security force.
The PM said he believed that officers and soldiers of the people’s public security force will accomplish their tasks, helping firmly safeguard the nation.
The same day, PM Phúc also visited and inspected combat readiness at the General Department of Military Intelligence. – VNS
Amnesty granted to prisoners ahead of new year
TÂY NINH — Hundreds of prisoners in the southern province of Tây Ninh on Tuesday have been granted amnesty ahead of the Tết(Lunar New Year) festival.
At Cây Cầy Detention Centre, 88 prisoners were released, while 434 had their terms reduced.
At Tây Ninh Police Detention Centre, five inmates were set free while dozens had their sentences cut from two to five months.
Bùi Đức Xuân, tribunal president of the Tây Ninh People’s Court, said it was a lenient policy of the State on the occasion of big holidays and Lunar New Year for prisoners who followed rules at detention centres. — VNS
