Communications work for the upcoming 13th National Party Congress has been prepared thoroughly and specifically, Lê Mạnh Hùng, Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, told Vietnam News Agency.

The XIII National Congress of the Party is about to take place, would you tell us how the communications work about the Congress has been done?

Up to this point, the communications work for the 13th National Party Congress has been prepared very meticulously and specifically. The communication work has been carried out through the media and at all-level agencies and localities, covering events before, during and after the congress. 

Press and media agencies have paid great attention to communications work for the Congress, affirming the country's achievements in 30 years of renovation.

The media also emphasised important achievements of the country, on socio-economic development, national defence and security, foreign affairs and Party building, the political system, reflecting the patriotic emulation movement.

The innovation achievements are clearly confirmed by the press. The press have brought into play their roles and strengths through the telling of patriotic emulation movements among the people towards the Party Congress.  These have shown the beliefs and expectations of the people in the Party's leadership: the country will continue to  develop, people's lives will be more wealthy and prosperous.

Could you tell us about the preparation for the opening of the Congress Press Centre?

The press centre has been basically completed, and it has outlined specific programmes and scenarios for journalists. 

The centre has been equipped well in terms of technology, internet and equipment to serve domestic and foreign reporters. 

This is the first time in the history of the Party congresses, correspondents of foreign media agencies will give coverage of the event online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have invited 32 correspondents from 17 Party-run media agencies overseas, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has invited 67 correspondents from foreign media agencies to cover the event.

Nearly 500 domestic reporters and technicians, and more than 60 resident correspondents, editors and technicians of foreign news agencies have registered to work at the press centre. More than 60 others will cover the congress online.

All reporters present at the centre will undergo COVID-19 testing, at the request of organisers.

How will the Government facilitate the work of domestic and foreign journalists?

In order to serve the press agencies reporting at the congress,  we have developed specific programs, content and scenarios. We will provide the press with the content, agenda of the Congress, as well as issues raised for the Congress to discuss and decide.

Recently, the Standing Committee of the Secretariat and the Organising Committee of the Congress directed the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Central Foreign Affairs Committee to implement specific activities in accordance with the reality.

The organisation of the Congress has invited foreign reporters to the press conference in the online format due to the COVID -19 pandemic. This is the first time in the history of the Party congresses, correspondents of foreign media agencies will give coverage of the event online.

Foreign reporters can register online in the following regions: Asia, America, Africa, and some other regions of the world. — VNS
