HÀ NỘI — A preparatory meeting for the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly (NA) took place in Hà Nội on Tuesday under the co-chair of National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn and Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính.

In his opening remarks, Mẫn said that the meeting aimed to review the progress and quality of preparations for the upcoming session, which is set to address the largest number of agenda items since the beginning of the 15th NA.

The 8th session will run from October 21 to November 30, lasting 29 days and divided into two phases.

The NA is expected to consider 39 items, including 29 legislative proposals, 10 issues related to economic and social matters, budget concerns, oversight, personnel and other key decisions.

Chairman Mẫn urged the NA and the Government members to review the current status of law and resolution drafts.

He said that completed projects should be prepared for submission, while ongoing projects must adhere to deadlines and maintain high quality. He also underscored the need for detailed content reviews and the resolution of any disagreements.

Addressing delays in some projects, he requested that all documents be submitted to NA deputies by October 1.

Chairman Mẫn also highlighted the impact of Typhoon Yagi, urging prompt and effective resolution of issues related to the storm and close coordination for national development.

He called on all agencies to adhere to directives from General Secretary and President Tô Lâm, ensuring that legal frameworks address practical needs and overcome policy obstacles to support national development and security.

The meeting concluded with an agreement for the Government to expedite the completion of all documents and proposals for submission, with agencies working closely with the NA to incorporate feedback and finalise preparations. — VNS
