PM calls for ensuring security in Central Highlands provinces

LÂM ĐỒNG — The Central Highlands region is strategically important for the country's economy, politics, security, national defence and ecological environment, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính said on Sunday.

Chairing a conference on security and socio-economic development in the Central Highlands held in Đà Lạt City, PM Chính also noted that the Party and the State had always paid great attention to stability in the Central Highlands provinces.

The country issued many resolutions, most recently the Politburo’s Resolution No 23-NQ/TW on 'Orientations for socio-economic development and ensuring national defence and security in the Central Highlands region to 2030'.

Aside from results that hadalready been achieved, there were still many difficulties and limitations to implementing policies and guidelines in the region.

To create a solid foundation for the area commensurate with its cultural identity, as well as its potential and advantages -- and to improve local people’s lives and livelihoods -- the PM asked ministries and localities to focus on security and order as an important, long-term task and the responsibility of the entire political system, in which heads of Party committees and authorities bear the first responsibility.

PM Chính emphasised that to maintain public order, the most fundamental thing was for people to have a prosperous life and that policies must leave no one behind.

He instructed authorities to focus on six key tasks, in which development would be the resource and inspiration to maintain security and order in the Central Highlands to solve the problem of residential land and production land, and be determined to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

He hopes the region will solve the problem of spontaneous migration, create livelihoods and support jobs for ethnic groups.

The region must set up specific solutions to ensure that people's livelihoods are improved every year.

The Central Highlands must have a high spirit of determination, great efforts, drastic actions, work with key points and complete tasks combined with inspection to ensure quality results.

The region should attach importance to resolve problems early, from the grassroots, effectively organise the projects approved by the PM, improve the effectiveness of management, build the people's security foundation associated with a solid all-people national defence posture.

It should also promote international cooperation and fight against crimes.

With the spirit of 'The whole country for the Central Highlands, the Central Highlands overcomes difficulties and rises up with the whole country', PM Chính expects and believes that the Central Highlands and neighbouring provinces, with a new spirit and motivation, will overcome difficulties and challenges, create a stronger period in socio-economic development, and successfully carry out their tasks.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Public Security Lương Tam Quang said that thoroughly and effectively realising the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws, with the core role, the police force had closely coordinated with ministries and localities to fight and prevent all kinds of crimes that cause insecurity and disorder, creating a secure and safe environment in the Central Highlands.

Delegates at the conference unanimously assessed that the Party and State leaders always paid special attention and had issued many projects to push up the economy and society in the Central Highlands.

They all expressed their unity of thought, awareness, action and solidarity to carry out solutions ensuring security and order in the region. — VNS
