Party chief praised Chinese envoy

HÀ NỘI — General Secretary of the Communist Party Nguyễn Phú Trọng has spoken of the important contributions by outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Việt Nam Hong Xiaoyong to bilateral relations.

During a reception for the ambassador in Hà Nội on February 8, the Party chief praised the diplomat for his efforts in expanding co-operation among sectors and localities of the two countries as well as people-to-people exchanges.

He called on the two countries to implement agreements reached and asked the ambassador to continue contributing to the Việt Nam-China traditional friendship and strategic cooperative partnership.

Hong Xiaoyong thanked leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State, and those from ministries, sectors and localities for their great support during his tenure.

He said he was impressed by Việt Nam’s great achievements in all fields, as well as the fruitful development of the relations between the two Parties and States.

He said China wished, together with Việt Nam, to continue promoting political trust and practical co-operation in all fields, expanding people-to-people exchange, and reinforcing the friendship for mutual benefit and development in the interest of the two peoples.

The same day, Party General Secretary Trọng and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping extended greetings to each other as the two countries’ people are preparing to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

The Vietnamese Party chief wished Chinese leaders and people a happy Lunar New Year, while Xi Jinping expressed hopes that Việt Nam will gain more remarkable achievements in the new year. — VNS
