HÀ NỘI — Party General Secretary, President Nguyễn Phú Trọng on Wednesday presided over a meeting in Hà Nội of the Politburo to give his ideas on preparations for the upcoming 10th plenum of the Party Central Committee, the seventh session of the National Assembly (NA) and a number of other important issues.

After listening to reports and discussions among Politburo members, the leader said the Politburo welcomed and highly valued the work being undertaken by the sub-committees preparing for the 13th Party Congress and other offices. The Politburo asked them to continue and review their work to ensure that the coming events would be a success.

He stressed the NA session was of great importance, and was expected to pass and give ideas on many laws and resolutions. It was important for the NA Standing Committee, the Government and other offices to discuss and prepare the contents, continue renovating organisational and management formats, and bring into full play the wisdom and responsibility of participants.

The leader emphasised that more attention and closer direction must be given to Party congresses at lower levels, from the content to personnel work, this year and in 2020.

A resolute attitude must also be shown against illegal lobbying for positions of power. Those who engage in this must be punished, he stressed.

The Fatherland Front as well as other organisations must co-ordinate to ensure the operation of the Party, State and the whole political system.

Also at the meeting, on the basis of a report by the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, the Politburo decided on a number of personnel cases under its management. — VNS
