HÀ NỘI – Amidst a changing world, it's more important than ever for the Government to stay alert and responsible, Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc has said
PM Phúc made the point yesterday while chairing a Government meeting where he also told Cabinet members to listen to NA deputies’ comments to meet people’s expectations.
He said the 16th United Nations Day of Vesak Celebrations 2019 with the participation of more than 3,000 delegates from 106 countries and territories and the National Assembly’s seventh working session had both been successful.
However, the Government leader bemoaned the slow introduction of some legal documents.
Regarding socio-economic performance, PM Phúc tasked his subordinates to focus on regional and international markets, which have been forecast to decline. In the first quarter this year, global trade grew only 0.75 per cent, while the World Trade Outlook Indicator fell to 96.3 points, the lowest level since 2010.
The US-China trade dispute could lower global trade by 1 per cent and global GDP by 0.4 per cent.
There are risks in exchange rates, interest rates, financial and monetary market instability and sharp fluctuations of crude oil and some commodities, so the Government chief tasked the Cabinet to stay alert in response to the changing world.
The Government leader also asked ministries, agencies and localities to deal with African swine fever, slow exports, the university entrance exam, develop e-Government, and environmental protection.--VNS
