HÀ NỘI — Party General Secretary and President Nguyễn Phú Trọng held phone talks with President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations.
They expressed their delights at the constant development of relations between the two Parties, States and people, and affirmed the two sides would continue to work closely to further promote the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Việt Nam and Cambodia.
They agreed to continue coordinating in implementing joint declarations and cooperation agreements signed between the two sides and develop specific measures to help tackle difficulties to further boost the economic cooperation between the two countries.
Party General Secretary and President Trọng congratulated Cambodia over the great accomplishments the Cambodian people have achieved in recent years.
He expressed the belief that under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni and the leadership of the Senate, the National Assembly and the Government, Cambodian people would overcome all difficulties to reap even greater achievements for national prosperity and happiness of the people.
He appreciated the management of the Cambodian Government and Cambodian people’s solidarity in implementing measures against COVID-19, helping to prevent the spread of the disease while fulfilling socio-economic development tasks.
He suggested the two countries to continue cooperating and sharing information in COVID-19 prevention and control and maintaining trade exchanges in border areas as normal.
He said he hoped that Cambodia would continue creating favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese people in Cambodia to study and work to contribute to the development of Cambodia.
CPP President and PM Hun Sen congratulated Việt Nam over its important achievements recently, including the successful organisation of the online 36th ASEAN Summit.
He spoke highly of Việt Nam’s efforts and success in putting the COVID-19 pandemic under control and thanked Việt Nam for sharing its experience and supporting Cambodia in the fight against the disease.
He proposed the two countries to continue increasing information sharing and support each other in COVID-19 prevention and control.
The two leaders highlighted the significant meaning of the signing of the two documents recognising the completion of 84 per cent of the work in the delimitation and marker planting along the land border between the two countries. They agreed to boost the completion of related procedures to soon make the documents to come into effective. — VNS
