HÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang hosted a reception in Hà Nội on Tuesday for US Ambassador to Việt Nam, Marc E. Knapper, where both sides expressed their delight at the positive development of the bilateral relationship over the past time, particularly the regular high-level exchanges and meetings

The two also noted that cooperation in economy, trade and investment had been increasingly on the rise and served as the core and driving force of bilateral ties.

Two-way trade reached US$123 billion last year. The US became Việt Nam's first export market with turnover of over $100 billion while Việt Nam was the 8th largest trade partner of the US.

Practical results have been seen in cooperation in national defence-security, education and training, science-technology, energy transition and climate change response.

Cooperation in overcoming war consequences is a bright spot in the bilateral relationship, making important contributions to the process of reconciliation and trust building between the two countries, opening up new cooperation opportunities in other important areas. The two sides have been working together more and more effectively within multilateral frameworks and in addressing regional and global issues.

Highlighting the importance of 2023 - the year marks the 10th founding anniversary of the Việt Nam-US comprehensive partnership, the two officials vowed to work closely together to thoroughly prepare for the exchange of delegations and all-level meetings in the near future, contributing to promoting the bilateral relationship in various areas, bringing practical benefits to the two nations and for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region. — VNS
