VN treasures ties with Cambodia: Party chief

Việt Nam always attaches importance and prioritises the consolidation and development of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable, long-term cooperation with Cambodia, Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng has said.

HÀ NỘI – Việt Nam always attaches importance to and prioritises the consolidation and development of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable, long-term cooperation with Cambodia, Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng has said. 

The Parader hosted a reception for Nay Pena, Chairman of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Central Committee’s Inspection Commission and First Vice President of the Cambodian Senate, in Hà Nội yesterday. 

Trọng said Nay Pena’s visit to Việt Nam was of significance as it took place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties. 

He noted with satisfaction the enhanced relations between the two Parties and nations across a number of fields, significantly contributing to political stability, and socio-economic development in each country. 
Applauding outcomes of the talks between the two Party Inspection Commissions, General Secretary Trọng suggested they intensify the sharing of information and experience in inspection and supervision work. 

For his part, Nay Pena thanked Việt Nam for its valuable support to Cambodia during the struggle for national liberation, helping Cambodian people escape the genocidal Pol Pot regime, as well as the during the cause of national reconciliation, construction and defence. 

Cambodia would work together with Viet Nam to raise the long-standing friendship and comprehensive cooperation to new levels, he said. 
Earlier, Nay Pena held talks with Trần Quốc Vượng, Politburo member and head of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee (CPVCC)’s Inspection Commission. 

The two sides briefed each other on the situation of their respective Parties and countries, and discussed orientations for co-operation between the two commissions. 
During their stay in Việt Nam, the Cambodian delegation had a working session on inspection and supervision work with the Ha Noi Party Committee and its inspection commission, and visited several economic facilities in the  northern province of Bắc Ninh.— VNS
