HÀ NỘI – President Trần Đại Quang has urged the APEC Business Advisory Council in Việt Nam (ABAC Việt Nam) to join hands with the relevant agencies and organisations to thoroughly prepare for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, slated to take place in November in the central city of Đà Nẵng.
At a working session with ABAC Việt Nam leaders in Hà Nội yesterday, the President called for joint efforts to attract the participation of leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) and representatives of international organisations, leading economic groups, businesses and localities nationwide in the CEO Summit 2017 and the APEC Business Summit during the week.
Hosting APEC Year 2017 is the focus of Việt Nam’s external activities, he said, stressing the need to intensify communication in order to raise public awareness of the event, promoting the land and people of Việt Nam to international friends.
The President applauded the close co-ordination between ABAC Việt Nam, the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the APEC National Secretariat 2017 and relevant ministries, agencies and localities over the past few months.
He agreed with the recommendations of the APEC business community, especially those regarding the liberalisation and facilitation of trade, investment and services; connectivity; inclusive, sustainable and innovative growth and the development of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, especially those run by women.
The leader also lauded recommendations to improve the quality of human resources, promote the digital economy and make the best use of opportunities generated by the fourth industrial revolution.
On behalf of leaders of other APEC economies, President Quang received ABAC’s report and 20 recommendations to be submitted to the APEC leaders. — VNS
