National Assembly Vice Chairman Uông Chu Lưu has asked the Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs of the Czech Republic’s Senate to work closely with the Vietnamese NA’s Law Committee to continue building cooperation programmes in law-building and supervision.

HÀ NỘI – National Assembly Vice Chairman Uông Chu Lưu has asked the Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs of the Czech Republic’s Senate to work closely with the Vietnamese NA’s Law Committee to build co-operation in law-building and supervision.

In a reception in Hà Nội yesterday for Chairman of the committee Miroslav Antl, who is visiting Việt Nam from September 18-25, Lưu affirmed that Việt Nam values co-operation with traditional friends in Central Eastern Europe, including the Czech Republic.

He wished for enhanced collaboration between the two sides in the future, given that two-way trade neared US$250 million last year, below full potential.

Speaking highly of ties between the two legislatures, he said the delegation’s working sessions with the ministries of Public Security, Justice, the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy afford both sides a chance to discuss work in legislation, legal assistance and crime prevention and control.

The host wished that as a member of the European Union (EU), the Czech Republic would urge the EU to promptly ratify the free trade agreement with Việt Nam and recognise Việt Nam as a market economy.

Antl informed the host of outcomes of his working session with the Vietnamese NA’s Law Committee, saying that the sides reached key agreements and the signed deals will continue to be implemented.

At talks between the permanent board of the NA’s Law Committee and the Czech delegation the same day, the two sides expressed their wish to continue exchanges, experience sharing and co-operation. — VNS
